Rise & Fall

You rise and fall

Golden in dress as you stretch through narrow cracks 

Between trees and city things

Glowing and hazy, so fond of everything you touch

Making light of winter’s chill

and riding on summer’s heels

Bringing bitter and sweet

To hide in your long shadows and revel in your glow

With gentle urges and calls to rise

Ushering in Aurora’s hope, a new beginning soars

Your golden land at my feet 

Preparing for darker days

Yet here we stand, still in your gentle gaze.

The season’s changed.

My old friend, returned.

Oh autumn.
